Marc-Aurel Martial ultimate goal is to become an expert in global anemia prevention and treatment, specifically anemia related to persistent malnutrition and WASH (Water, Sanitation And Hygiene) in Haiti.


Marc-Aurel was raised in Haiti and immigrated to the United States in 1995. He and his wife are the parents of two boys and one girl. In 2010, he founded Haiti Health Initiative (HHI), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.


HHI and its Haitian sister organization seek to improve the overall health and well-being of rural Haitians through economic development initiatives and the provision of education and services in primary health care, dental care, nutrition and public health. He loves his native land and has a passion for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating sustainable projects. His service to Haiti is one of the small ways he can pay it forward.


He enjoys learning, teaching, and assisting other people, including students, in the pursuit of their noblest aspirations. He enjoys spending time with family, walking, hiking, biking, and playing racquetball and ping pong.

Jolynne Britsch



JoLynne Schill Britsch is a registered nurse with a bachelors in nursing. She has been interested in global health and was grateful for the opportunity to be apart of the medical team that went to Haiti in 2018. She loved and was inspired by the people she met in the community of Timo, Haiti. She has a passion to help achieve the sustainable goals that HHI has set in place for this community regarding education and health. Erasmus said, “The main hope of a nation lies in the proper education of its youth.”JoLynne chaired the fundraising campaign to build the school in Timo and has been actively participating in overseeing the construction process. She also is manages the medical team in Timo.


JoLynne has worked in Maternal/Child nursing and was a childbirth educator. She currently works as an inpatient wound/ostomy specialist. She and her husband are the parents of four children and eight grandchildren. They have lived in numerous parts of the US as well as England. They love to travel as a family, meet new people, mountain bike, hike and snow ski. She is enjoying having Oregon be home and loves the Northwest.

Paulinaire Saint Surin




Paulinaire was born in Jakmèl, He began my classical studies in Jakmèl, notably at bas coq chante. Then, in 7th A.F at Filo, He started his classes in Port-au-Prince, especially the crossroads city. He did a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After his mission, he went to the Canadian Technical School in Electromechanics. He is a great father and husband.
